I have cute little fries in my fish tank, they don’t come
from the store, do you know where they came from?
A year ago, on Saturday, I was getting a pet fish, which I had always
wanted! My mom had driven me to the pet store as I swiftly bolted out of the
car, without stopping to catch my breath or rotating my head to look back at
other things. Not noticing my mom behind me urgently telling me to slow down.
My running slowed down to a jog, then a walk as I panted. The
automatic doors slowly slid open, allowing me to step inside. My heart beated
loudly with excitement, I didn’t think I would ever calm down! My mom had now
caught up with me after I stopped panting, but my heart still bubbling with
excitement!
As I skipped fleetly into the store, my ears suddenly
overwhelmed with music of all the sounds of the pets! Melody from the birds, scurrying hamsters back and
forth in their cage, and the quiet sniffs and chews from the rabbits!
But then, I heard something that blocked all the sounds from
my ears, it was the gentle churning of the fish tank and the light, small
bubbles popping on the surface of the water! My mind filled with elation and
jubilation as I yelled “Mom! I’m over here! The fish is over here!”
My mom smiled and caught up with me, she took my hand and we
walked toward the tank! The tinkling of the bubbles popping inside my ear seemed
to get louder as we got closer!
Finally we reached the fish tank, I was excited, I knew I was
the most eager person in this pet store! The tank was so tall, and so big, I
had to lean back to see the top of the tank! I carefully watched the little
goldfish dart in and out from the groups!
Then, at that moment, a flash of brightness, (almost
sparkling) caught my eye… I just knew it was one of the goldfish, my eyes searched
until I saw it again, then again! It swam out from the groups and gracefully
swam, it’s dainty tail fluttering behind it!
I just wanted to pick this one, the most perfect one! I was
so certain that it was better than all the others! I kept track of it, while my mom went to find a pet shop worker! “May I help
you?” I looked up, it was the pet shop worker, “Can I have that one please?” I
asked.
The pet store worker scooped out that fish and put it in a
bag filled with water, and handed it me! I peeked into the plastic bag and
watched the glistening goldfish swim freely around and around.
I waited happily as I looked at the other children carrying
their pets home as my mom purchased my goldfish! I thought “What will I name my
goldfish?” It had to be a name pretty, just like my fish, I decided to name it --Tiny!
Tiny lived in a tank at my house, I had also bought her tasty
food, a tank cleaner and others to make her comfortable! After a few days, Tiny
got used to her new home and started to again swim as free as before!
Every day after school, I would do my homework and then take
care of Tiny! Tiny would always swim around in a circle and make bubbles as if
she were saying Hello! I had fun watching her all the time!
As months passed by, Tiny grew bigger and bigger, from 2
inches to 6 inches! She was no longer Tiny. Her tank looked like it shrunk a
size. It seemed like she didn’t belong to her tank anymore. I started to worry
where Tiny could live, ‘till I thought of my friend’s fish pond!
The next morning, I took my big Tiny to my friend’s house, she
had a goldfish too, named Tammy! When I was carefully put Tiny into the fish
pond, Tiny seemed to like such a delightful new friend, they looked happy
together.
From now on, I always can visit my friend and look at my pet,
both fish are getting along and are healthy! One day, my friend called me in an
exciting voice that they had a lot of baby fish in the pond! I was overjoyed to
hear what she said!
When I got to my friend’s house, I saw Tiny happily swimming
with Tammy and their babies! As I sat closer to the tank, she swam around in a
circle and made bubbles toward me! Just like telling me that she Tiny became a
mom!
Now in my tank, I have several little fries, there are all my
little Tinys, Thanks my big Tiny, you made me feel proud for what I’ve done!
